Large Canadian Portfolio Impacted by Petro-Hydrocarbons
On behalf of the owning entity, EAG has managed remedial activities at 150+ sites impacted by past petroleum services operations across 10 Canadian provinces/territories. The properties were formerly operated as distribution centers for bulk petroleum products, card-lock facilities, retail stations, bulk terminals, and refining facilities, a majority of which are legacy sites previously owned by Shell Canada Products.
Working with multiple provincial ministries, EAG has been progressively completing remediation under budget and prior to timeline goals – all in accordance with regulatory standards and contractual requirements. To date, over 90% of the sites have been remediated as required by transfer agreements, regulatory agencies, and/or purchasers.
Remedial Activity Have Included: excavation, in-situ soil treatments, vapor intrusion mitigation, groundwater capture & treatment, light non-aqueous liquid recovery systems, and risk assessment.
Catalyst for Re-development: In addition to remediating over 90% of the sites, roughly 65% of the sites have since been sold for redevelopment while the remaining 35% are currently being marketed for redevelopment. The sites have been repositioned for a variety of vertical development purposes primarily including light-industrial, commercial, and mixed-use, though some have been repositioned for residential development.
